FAVOURITES

This list does not necessarily reflect what I think is the best of my own work. Often what I like most about these projects is the creation of people I worked with, and many projects are included simply because I enjoyed working on them.

SPEKTR is a Facebook content management software developed in 2013 by an interdisciplinary team at m.i.r. media. Content is generated into an app situated on a Facebook fan page and can include editorial content, video and photo material as well a range of competition mechanics. It has integrated tracking, participation management and a data extract facility. An important focus for us in developing the tool, was on delivering an app which is extremely simple for the user to adapt, to suit either their brand CI or a single promotion design.

The 2012 Konzerthaus Advent calendar is a nice example of a Facebook app developed by m.i.r media. The calendar can be managed entirely with the integrated Content Management System, which contains a participation overview with data extract functionality and a prize management interface.

In 2012, Rimowa took a JU52 on its first transatlantic flight since 1937. The crew set off from Cologne on 18th June and crossed the Atlantic via Scotland, the Faro Islands, Iceland and Greenland to land in Iqaluit in Canada on 22nd. From there, they proceeded on a North America tour taking in Toronto, New York, Denver, L.A. and other great places to eventually arrive back in Cologne on 17th August. Some great video material was filmed en route.

The relaunch of the Kölner Philharmonie website in 2003/2004 was a successful attempt to combine accessibility with good design without compromising either. It was a challenging task to accomplish within the technical restrictions of that time, and one I am extremely proud of having achieved.

The project was supported by the LVR-Louis-Braille-Schule in Düren, and working with the students there was a very rewarding experience for me.

"Discover your Dark Side" was a game created for Guinness in 2005. The game was entirely hand drawn and animated and subsequently programmed in Flash. It was real little highlight for me to get back to working with pencil and paper.

This cute series of short films for pre-school children was a very relaxing project and a lot of fun to work on.

I don't really like Werner, but I got to go to Saigon to work on this film, an experience I'm still talking about. Any topic you care to raise, I can retaliate with a "Well, when I was in Vietnam ..."

A Monkey's Tale (original: Le Château des singes) is a feature-length French animated film directed by Jean-François Laguionie.
It won the Award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 5th Kecskemét Animation Film Festival and the Hollywood Discovery Award at the Hollywood Film Festival 2000.
I started almost from scratch on this film and learned so much from some very talented people in the year I spent working on it.

The background images in this film are particularly impressive.

Tillman O'Connor

I had a cat called Tillman once, whose uncontrollable appetite inspired the domain name for my hobby Flash game development site. It was set up to imitate a virtual self-help portal for obese cats, which - due to a lack of computer literacy on the part of its target audience - eventually evolved into my actual website. Totally unprofessional, I just couldn't seem to bring myself to substitute the logo with an "Úna O'Connor" one.
